Design Concept
“Contemporary art can be a part of life and a part of nature.”
This project explores the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature, envisioning a world where artworks transform into marine life when they enter the ocean, and marine life, in turn, evolves into art. This dynamic cycle not only reflects the festival’s theme of sea restoration but also highlights the transformative power of art in bridging life and nature.

Brainstorming Process
During the brainstorming process, I focused on the following key ideas:
- Nature & Harmony: The tranquil hues of ocean animals, seaweed, and sandy islands symbolize peaceful coexistence between humans and nature.
- Art & Life: Blending elements of iconic art with the forms of marine life conveys the mutual transformation between art and nature.
- Japanese Aesthetics: Minimalistic design principles paired with seasonal changes and the natural landscapes of Setouchi create a unique visual narrative rooted in local culture.
Design Tone
The overall tone is calm and soothing, inviting viewers to explore how art can change lives and intertwine with the natural world. The design aims to evoke curiosity and inspire a deeper appreciation of the ocean’s beauty.
